📝 Your First Migraine Entry
Logging an Active Migraine
-
Tap a Date on the Calendar
The calendar shows the current month. Tap today's date (or any date you want to log) -
Fill in the Details
- Start Time: When did the migraine begin?
- Severity: Mild, Moderate, or Severe
- Duration: How long did it last? (or leave blank if ongoing)
-
Save Entry
Tap "Log Migraine" to save your entry. The calendar will update immediately.
Logging a Migraine-Free Day
Tracking migraine-free days is just as important for identifying patterns!
- Tap a date on the calendar
- Select "No Migraine" in the entry form
- Save - that's it!
💡 Multi-Day Migraines
If your migraine lasts multiple days (for example, Monday through Wednesday), enter the start time on Monday and the duration. The app will automatically count this as 3 migraine days - clinically accurate for diagnosis and treatment tracking.
🔔 Setting Up Notifications
Daily Check-In Reminders
-
Go to Settings
Tap the ⚙️ Settings icon in the bottom navigation -
Enable Daily Check-Ins
Toggle on "Daily Check-In" notifications -
Set Your Preferred Time
Choose a consistent time each day (we recommend evening, around 8-9 PM) -
Allow Notifications
When prompted, tap "Allow" to enable notifications
✅ Why Evening Reminders Work Best
Setting your daily reminder for the evening (8-9 PM) helps ensure you log the entire day accurately. Morning reminders might miss migraines that start later in the day.
Post-Attack Follow-Ups
The app can also remind you to complete migraine entries after you log an active attack:
- Toggle on "Post-Attack Reminders" in Settings
- You'll get a gentle reminder 2-4 hours after logging to update the duration
- Helps you track accurate migraine duration without constantly watching the clock
📊 Viewing Your Analytics
After tracking for a week, you'll start to see meaningful patterns in your analytics dashboard.
-
Open Analytics
Tap the 📊 Analytics icon in the bottom navigation -
Review Your Charts
- Frequency Trend: Migraine days per month over time
- Pain Level Distribution: Breakdown of mild, moderate, severe attacks
- Time of Day Patterns: When your migraines typically start
- Day of Week Patterns: Which days you're most vulnerable
-
Identify Patterns
Look for trends: Are weekends worse? Do migraines cluster around certain times?
For detailed information about interpreting your analytics, see our Analytics Guide.
📄 Exporting Your Data
Preparing for a doctor's appointment? Export your migraine history:
-
Go to Settings
Tap ⚙️ Settings in the bottom navigation -
Export PDF Report
Tap "Export PDF Report" to generate a comprehensive clinical summary -
Share or Save
The PDF includes:- Migraine day counts (episodic vs. chronic classification)
- Attack frequency and patterns
- Severity distribution
- Clinical interpretations and recommendations
💡 Doctor Visit Tip
Export your PDF 1-2 days before your appointment. Review it yourself first to prepare questions and discussion points. Doctors appreciate patients who come prepared with data!
🌙 Dark Mode
Aiding Migraine automatically respects your device's dark mode setting:
- iOS: Settings → Display & Brightness → Dark
- Android: Settings → Display → Dark theme
- Desktop: System Preferences → Appearance
The app will switch themes automatically when you change your system setting - no need to configure anything!
✨ Pro Tips
Track Consistently
Logging every day (even migraine-free days) helps identify patterns you might otherwise miss. Set up daily reminders to build the habit.
Calendar View on Desktop
Monthly stats show right on the calendar - you can see at a glance if you're having an episodic (8 days) or chronic (15+ days) month.
Works Offline
Once installed, Aiding Migraine works completely offline. Log migraines on a plane, in the subway, or anywhere without internet. Your data is always available.
